Yoshiaki is responsible for the patent practice at KIPB. He joined the firm in 2009 after spending a decade as a Senior Patent Engineer at another leading Japanese IP firm and qualified as a Japanese Patent Attorney in the same year. With more than 25 years of experience in intellectual property, he advises clients on all aspects of patent prosecution, portfolio management and enforcement.

Yoshiaki graduated from the Tokyo Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering. His technical expertise spans data processing, communication technologies, medical devices and a wide range of mechanical engineering fields.

He has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Japan and internationally, as well as representing clients in opposition and appeal proceedings before the Japan Patent Office. He regularly assists overseas clients in obtaining and enforcing patent rights in Japan.

Yoshiaki is an active member of the international IP community and regularly attends conferences organised by the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), where he strengthens relationships with practitioners around the world.

Outside the office, Yoshiaki is a devoted full-time dad. Somehow, he still manages to balance family life and a busy patent practice with remarkable ease—much to the amazement of the other fathers at KIPB.
