Kazuaki began on his path to a legal career by winning a place at the Law School at Chuo University in Tokyo – one of the most prestigious and competitive law schools in the country. 

After graduating from Chuo in the late 90s he then spent over 10 years working for a well-known housing materials manufacturer gaining both legal and technical engineering skills.

His desire to combine these two aspects in his career led to him studying for the Japanese Patent & Trademark attorney exam which he passed in 2012. He joined the team at KIPB in 2014 where he had time and opportunity to pass and register as an attorney in 2015.

Kazuaki has nearly a decade of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications at the JPO for a wide variety of international clients and in many technical fields. He has developed specialist knowledge in obtaining patent protection for mechanical, architectural and civil engineering technologies and designs.

He is a fairly serious cyclist in his spare time and is keen to lend his experience to the novice cyclists among the KIPB team! He is also a fan of rock ‘n’ roll.
